Mamoru Hosoda
Mamoru Hosoda ( Japanese 細 田 守 , Hosoda Mamoru ; born September 19, 1967 in Kamiichi , Nakaniikawa-gun , Toyama Prefecture ) is a Japanese director of animated films and series.
Life
Mamoru Hosoda attended Kanazawa School of Art , where he graduated in oil painting.
His first son was born on September 24, 2012.
Career
In 1991 he joined Toei Animation , which marked his entry into the anime industry. At the beginning he worked in the direction of various anime television series before he made some films such as Digimon Adventure for Digimon or One Piece - Baron Omatsuri and the mysterious island for One Piece .
In 2005 he ended the collaboration with Toei Animation. After this separation, he was at Studio Ghibli for the film Howl's Moving Castle as a director in conversation, but Hayao Miyazaki finally took over this position. Mamoru Hosoda's film The Girl Who Leaped Through Time won several awards, including the Japanese Academy Award for Best Animated Film . Summer Wars won the Grand Prix in the animation category at the Japan Media Arts Festival . Hosoda received the Individual Award at the 15th Animation Kobe .
In 2018 he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year. The Boy and the Beast and The Girl Who Leaped Through Time were named as decisive works .
