Animation Kobe
The animation Kobe ( Japanese ア ニ メ ー シ ョ ン 神 戸 , Animēshon Kobe ) is an annual event since 1996 in Kobe , Japan . As part of this event, which was created to promote anime and other visual media, the Animation Kobe Awards ( ア ニ メ ー シ ョ in 神 戸 賞 , Animēshon Kobe shō ) are also presented in various categories.
history
In 1995 the event was founded by a committee headed by Yasuki Hamano , whose mission it was to promote the entertainment industry along with the culture of animation. Since 1996 the event has been held every year in Kobe over a longer period of time with individual, specially designed offers.
The first Kobe animation took place on December 8, 1996 at Kobe Fashion Mart , located on Rokkō Island . There, Hideaki Anno was honored with the award for the best individual performance directing Neon Genesis Evangelion , with the series also being recognized as the best series. The award for the best film went to Ghost in the Shell . The special prize went to Fujiko Fujio , who, among other things, created Doraemon as a mangaka . However, he died a month before he could receive the award, but the award was given to him anyway. Other awards went to Naomi Tamura for the theme song Yuzurenai Negai by Magic Knight Rayearth , Key the Metal Idol (an OVA by Studio Pierrot ) and to Jungle Park by developer DIGITALOGUE for the best interactive software.
The second event relocated to the Kobe Portopia Hotel on the man-made island of Port Island and was held on November 24, 1997. There were only changes to the extent that no theme song was awarded. Instead, Shiro Sagisu received the award for best composition. Next to him were Hayao Miyazaki as the director of Princess Mononoke as well as the film itself and the series Utena. Revolutionary Girl awarded by JCStaff . The network media award went to the computer game Shin Seiki Evangelion: Kōtetsu no Girlfriend by Gainax . The special award went to the Seiyū Masako Nozawa .
Finally, from 1998 to 2002 inclusive, five more events followed at the Kobe International Conference Center . In addition, since the third event, there has been a chair for the evaluation, which is determined by the jury. The jury itself consists mainly of the editors-in-chief of the major magazines, such as Newtype , Animedia or Animage , and is expanded to include an employee from the city. For the first time this was Nobuo Oda , the editor-in-chief of Animedia. Likewise, after the change in 1998, the price for music and 1998–1999 the network media price were dropped.

According to the participation criteria, the award for the outstanding person relates to the activities from September of the previous year to August of the current year. Particular emphasis is placed on honoring new talents who are expected to perform well in the future.
Movie Award
Just like individuals, the films will also be appraised from August last year and a winner will be chosen. The candidates come not only from Japanese production, but also from other countries, although it was also stated that a focus is on domestic productions, since the creative people of Japan are to be advertised.

Television award
The rating includes series that were shown on Japanese television from September of the previous year to August of the current year. Repetitions are excluded. As with the films, foreign productions are also included, but here, too, the focus is on domestic works.
Price for directly published works
Publications that found their way directly onto the market, i.e. that were not previously seen in the cinema or on television, are awarded in the same way as the television series. This means in particular original video animations (OVA) and computer games. No prizes have been awarded in this category since 2008.

Network media price
The price initially included all interactive media related to anime . In the years 1998–1999 the prize was no longer awarded. The award has been continued since 2000, from then onwards referring to media that used the network (not necessarily the Internet) for dissemination and interaction. New publications from September of the previous year to August of the current year are also allowed to be evaluated.

Theme Music Prize
This award is given to the theme songs of anime. After his first two awards, with the second one being a general music award with which one person was awarded, he was suspended for a year, then sponsored by Radio Kobe from 1999 to 2003 and since 2004 by AM Kobe.
