Dresden Friedrichstatt Palace
The Dresden Friedrichstatt Palast (spelling: FriedrichstaTT Palast , formerly Breschke & Schuch ) is a cabaret , music and theater in Dresden .
The cabaret was opened on December 1, 1998 under the name "Dresdner Kabarett Breschke & Schuch". It is located on the edge of the Wilsdruffer suburb in the former Sächsische Landesdruckerei on Wettiner Platz (entrance Jahnstraße) opposite the Dresden Mitte train station and has almost 200 spaces. Around 30,000 guests attend the 300 or so performances each year. There are also guest appearances. The managing director is Thomas Schuch (* 1959 in Berlin ), Manfred Breschke (* 1952 in Ortrand ) acted as artistic director until his retirement in autumn 2017. The actors are shareholders of the house, which works for the public benefit and is supported exclusively from its income. Since 2015, the cabaret has received annual funding of 15,000 euros from the state capital Dresden.
The two cabaret artists Manfred Breschke and Thomas Schuch played Die Herkuleskeule at the Dresden cabaret theater for years before opening their own cabaret. Together they stood on stage up to six times a week. Manfred Breschke retired in autumn 2017, he continues to perform on stage.
The most successful program every year during Advent is the “Striezelmarktwirtschaft”, the current cabaret annual review.
At the beginning of March each year, the cabaret artists, together with the SPD sub-district Elbe-Röder, commemorate the book burning in 1933 on Wettiner Platz near the cabaret. You design a matinee with changing artists and look back in order to be able to better understand the context in dealing with the current situation.
The cabaret was awarded the East German Cabaret Prize 2001 for the best ensemble performance. With his first solo cabaret “Schuch matt” Thomas Schuch was nominated in 2008 for the cabaret prize “ Der Rostocker Koggenzieher ”.
In February 2019 the name was changed to the Dresden FriedrichstaTT Palast . alluding to the Berlin revue stage.
Changing exhibitions can be seen in the auditorium and foyer.
Dresden Satire Prize
Since 2014, the cabaret has been awarding the Dresden Satire Prize every April. You can apply until December 31 of the previous year. Six applications are nominated for the final round. A seven-member jury (including the actor and cabaret artist Wolfgang Stumph ) selects the jury award winner. The Landskron Brau-Manufaktur Görlitz donated the prize money of 1000 euros . The audience also chooses a favorite; the prize money is 500 euros. Both award winners will be performing with a complete program in autumn of the same year. The previous jury winners are: René Sydow , Joachim Zawischa , Ursula von Rätin , Erik Lehmann and Werner Brix . Audience award winners were Benjamin Tomkins , Joachim Zawischa, Björn Pfeffermann , Fee Badenius and Sulaiman Masomi .
