Manfred Lenz (born November 8, 1947 in Großräschen-Süd ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After training as an electrician with a high school diploma at the “Walther Rathenau” secondary school in Senftenberg , Lenz studied electrical engineering at the “Ernst Thälmann” engineering school in Senftenberg from 1966 to 1969 . He then worked as an engineer at Robotron in Radeberg and did his basic military service from 1969 to 1971. From 1971 to 1984 he then worked as a shift engineer in the Premnitz chemical fiber plant . In the meantime, he completed a distance learning course in power electronics from 1974 to 1976 at the Technical University of Dresden . From 1984 Lenz was responsible for the field of magnetic tape cassette production at the Premnitz chemical fiber plant. After the reunification in the GDR , he worked from 1991 to 1999 as head of economic development in the Havelland district .

He volunteers, among other things, for the Technische Hilfswerk (THW), which he helped to build up in Rathenow and of which he was the local chairman for many years.

Lenz is married and has one child.

In 1990 Lenz joined the SPD and was chairman of the local SPD association in Rathenow from 1991 to 2004 .

Lenz was a member of the Havelland district council from 1990 to 1993 . He has been a member of the Rathenow city ​​council since 1993 and was at times chairman of the SPD parliamentary group .

In the state elections in Brandenburg in 1999 , he was elected to the Brandenburg state parliament as a direct candidate for the SPD in constituency 11 (Havelland I) . Lenz was a member of parliament from September 29, 1999 until the end of the legislative period on October 13, 2004. In the state parliament he was deputy chairman of the committee for European affairs and development policy, member of the main and petitions committee , as well as the electoral review committee.
