Manfred Pope

Manfred Papst (* 1956 in Davos ) is a Swiss journalist .

Life

Manfred Papst studied Sinology, German Studies and Art History in Zurich from 1975 to 1983, which he completed with a thesis on the translatability of Chinese poetry. Then he completed an additional course in history until 1987. He worked as a freelance proofreader, editor, translator and editor for various publishers and worked as a German teacher. He worked for the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) on the edition of Friedrich Glauser's works and letters . From 1989 to 2001 he was program manager of the NZZ-Buchverlag , from 2002 to 2017 Papst was head of the culture department at NZZ am Sonntag , of which he is still a member of the culture department .

Papst received the Zurich Journalism Prize in 2005 and the Alfred Kerr Prize for literary criticism in 2015 .
