Manfred Portugall

Manfred Portugall is a German jazz guitarist.

Portugall studied jazz guitar at the Folkwang School in Essen . He worked as a composer and songwriter in the field of pop music (e.g. for Anke Engelke ), produced advertising music and was a member of the music ensemble of the Schauspielhaus Bochum .

Portugall is a member of Christian Thomé's band Dittyland and the Cologne septet Tomatic 7 . With Manfred Billmann and Stefan Werni , he founded the trio TakeNat in 1997 , which plays music in the style of the Nat King Cole Trio and released the album The Music of Nat King Cole . After the trumpeter Herwig Barthes joined in 2001 , the group performs as Take Nat plus One . In 2003 her CD A Beautiful Friendship was released .

He forms the blues duo Bluebirds with the guitarist "Crazy" Chris Kramer . He also worked with musicians such as Frank Kirchner , Sam Brown , Jürgen Friedrich , Tato Gomez , Roland Höppner , Claudius Valk , Michael Schürmann , Achim Kaufmann , Axel Heilhecker , Niels Klein , Herwig Barthes and Eckard Koltermann .
