Manfred Seebode

Manfred Seebode (born September 15, 1938 in Berlin ; † October 29, 2011 in Leipzig ) was a German legal scholar and professor of criminal law .

Life

Manfred Seebode grew up in the Rhineland with his grandparents near Düsseldorf and graduated from high school there. He studied law at the Free University of Berlin and at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . In 1963 he passed the first state examination in law (“Referendarexamen”) in Würzburg and the second state examination (“Assessorexamen”) in Munich in 1968. Also in 1968 he was at the University of Wuerzburg with the work "The crime of perversion of justice" doctorate .

He worked mostly as a scientist and only occasionally as a criminal defense lawyer . He worked up the contacts with the defendants and published them under the title “Messages from a prisoner on remand”.

After serving as a professor at the Faculty of Law at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen in 1972 and 1974, Seebode followed the call of the Münster University of Applied Sciences , Faculty of Social Affairs, to an unlimited C3 professorship for criminal law, criminal procedure law , criminology and criminal policy . In 1984 he completed his habilitation with Günter Spendel at the University of Würzburg with the text "The execution of remand detention". In 1993 he was appointed full professor at the University of Leipzig and until his retirement in 2003 he held the chair for criminal law, criminal procedure law, penal law and criminology.
