Manfred Tschaikner (born August 14, 1957 in Bludenz ) is an Austrian historian , archivist and educator .

biography

After finishing high school in Dornbirn , Tschaikner studied history and German at the University of Innsbruck . There, in 1982 Tschaikner graduated with a Mag. Phil. and ten years later, in 1992, the doctorate to Dr. phil. with a work on the early modern witch persecution in the Austrian rulers in front of the Arlberg . 2008 Manfred Tschaikner was at the University of Vienna in the Department of Austrian history habilitation .

Tschaikner taught at various schools in Innsbruck in 1982/83 , from 1983 to 2002 at the Bundesgymnasium Bludenz , where he combined this teaching activity from 1994 to 2002 with a teaching position at the Federal Pedagogical Institute in Feldkirch .

Priorities of the historical work

Since 2002 he has been working as a scientific archivist and department head in the Vorarlberg State Archives in Bregenz and has been teaching at the Institute for History at the University of Vienna since 2007.

His research and publications focus on the witch trials including the associated culture of remembrance as well as the early modern history of Vorarlberg, Liechtenstein and the Lake Constance area . The research results are also communicated through numerous public lectures, such as B. those at the Historical Association for the Principality of Liechtenstein and the Liechtenstein National Museum .
