The Mann & Schröder GmbH is a German manufacturer of hair - and personal care products , headquartered in Baden-Württemberg Siegelbach .

prehistory

The citizen and tradesman Jacob Grötzinger founded a soap factory in 1864 in the farm buildings of Schloss Siegelsbach , where there had previously been a brewery . After complaints from neighbors about odor nuisance, Grötzinger's successors relocated the company to a newly built factory on Wagenbacher Weg outside of the former location in 1896/97. The company now traded as Süddeutsche Öl- & Fettwarenfabrik J. Grötzinger Söhne and mainly produced lubricants . The owner family sold their entire property in 1937 and emigrated. The Profitta-Werke from Waibstadt operated production until 1939, when the company closed due to a lack of labor. In 1947 it was reopened as Hannemann & Co. and mainly produced soft soap , but had to be liquidated again in 1949.

Companies

One of the Hannemann employees, Hans Schröder, founded a new company, Mann & Schröder KG , in 1951 with Eugen Mann from Siegelsbach and other partners . Initially with three workers, he initially produced window putty , and later also shoe polish and washing-up liquid , some of which were sold under the Hansi brand . The production of hairspray began in 1959 with the acquisition of a filling machine for aerosols . The product range was gradually changed until the company only manufactured cosmetics and body care products.

Hans Schröder sen. handed over management of the company to his son Hans in 1977. The other partners had all left, so that Mann & Schröder became a purely family business.

As of 2018, around 720 employees work for Mann & Schröder in the main plants in Siegelsbach and Hüffenhardt . Further branches are in Mannheim and Hergiswil in Switzerland.
