The municipality is partly in the Neckartal-Odenwald nature park between 219 and 338 meters above sea level. Part of the district is not drained to the Neckar , which is a few kilometers to the east , but to the west with the Wollenbach. The Hüttigsmühle, part of Hüffenhardt, is in the Wollenbachtal valley.

The neighboring towns are Obrigheim and Hochhausen in the north, Haßmersheim and Neckarmühlbach in the east . In the south , Siegelsbach , which belongs to the district of Heilbronn , and the Bad Rappenau district of Wollenberg , and in the west, Helmstadt-Bargen , which belongs to the Rhein-Neckar district , border on the municipality.
Community structure
The former municipality of Kälbertshausen belongs to the municipality of Hüffenhardt . The Wüsthausen homestead, the Hüttigsmühle houses and the Hofsteden desolation belonged to the Hüffenhardt community within the boundaries of December 31, 1974 .
In Kälbertshausen, a locality has been set up within the meaning of the Baden-Württemberg municipal code with its own local council and mayor as its chairman.
history
Hüffenhardt
The earliest traces of settlement in Hüffenhardt, burial mounds discovered in the Langherd area in 1844 , date to the Neolithic Age (3rd millennium BC). The Romans also left their mark. Continuous settlement up to the present day cannot be proven. Today's Hüffenhardt was probably not built until the 10th century and was first mentioned on the occasion of a gift from Erchenbert von Röttingen to Hirsau Monastery in 1083 . The donation book of the Reichenbach monastery in the Black Forest states that a Hufelinhart estate was owned by the Reichenbach monks around 1150.
In the High Middle Ages, the feudal lords of the place under the sovereignty of the diocese of Worms were the lords of Guttenberg Castle, i.e. from 1417 the lords of Weinsberg , from 1449 the lords of Gemmingen . From 1497 the von Gemmingen had the high jurisdiction (blood spell) over the place. In addition, the Ritterstift in Wimpfen , the Guttenberger Eucharius Chaplaincy , Wimpfen citizens, a Veit von Helmstatt and others had possessions here. Around 1525, the (Lutheran) Reformation was introduced by the Lords of Gemmingen .
In the Bargen corridor was the lost Hüffenhardt Castle, from which the remains of the walls were excavated in 1900.
Around the year 1600 Hüffenhardt had around 400 inhabitants, but the following Thirty Years' War decimated the population to six households. In the second half of the 17th century, the von Gemmingen people also settled protective Jews . In 1806 Hüffenhardt came to the newly created Grand Duchy of Baden as an independent municipality . There it initially belonged to the Neckarbischofsheim district office . When this was dissolved in 1864, Hüffenhardt came to the district office of Mosbach , which became the district of the same name in 1938 . During the Second World War, American troops bombed the village on Easter Sunday 1945, destroying 12 houses and barns. In 1939 there were 891 inhabitants, at the end of 1945 there were 1130. In the course of the Baden-Württemberg district reform in 1973 , Hüffenhardt became part of the new Neckar-Odenwald district .
Incorporations
Kälbertshausen was incorporated into Hüffenhardt on January 1, 1975.
Religions
From the Reformation until after the Second World War , the population was mainly evangelical . The Catholic refugees who poured in after the war increased the proportion of Catholics to around 27 percent today. There is a separate Protestant parish in Hüffenhardt and Kälbertshausen. Hüffenhardt and Kälbertshausen are branches of the Roman Catholic parish of Siegelsbach.
There was a small Jewish community that arose during the 17th century and was destroyed during the Nazi era . The synagogue was completely destroyed during the November pogroms in 1938 ; the parishioners fled abroad or were deported to concentration camps.

coat of arms
In a split shield in front in red a fallen golden (yellow) ploughshare, behind in blue two golden (yellow) bars. The ploughshare in the front field of the coat of arms tinged in the Baden colors is Hüffenhardt's mark , which has also appeared on boundary stones and in community seals since the 18th century. The left field shows the Gemmingian coat of arms in allusion to the former local rule from 1449 to 1805, the lords of Gemmingen .
In the time of the imperial knighthood, the municipality of Hüffenhardt had a coat of arms with a ploughshare, two lions as shield holders and a crown. In 1895, the government of the Grand Duchy of Baden objected to shield holders and crowns in the coats of arms of rural communities and pushed for the affected community coats of arms to be changed. A coat of arms proposal from 1904 with a single golden ploughshare on a red background was initially rejected by the local council. The current coat of arms was determined by the State Archives Directorate in 1960.

Culture and sights
Buildings and monuments
The baroque Protestant church in its current form dates from 1738, when the nave was rebuilt. Inside the church, spanned by a historic barrel vault, there is a historic Overmann organ on a two-story wooden gallery. The parapet of the gallery on the first gallery is decorated with Bible scenes painted in oil. The altar is made of wood with veneer and inlay work, which is rarely found in the Kraichgau and the Kleiner Odenwald. Behind the altar is a historic pulpit decorated in baroque style. The font was donated in the late 18th century. In the church there is also a historical Helmstatt epitaph with an almost life-size sandstone sculpture.
In front of the Protestant church there is a memorial for those who took part in the war in 1870/71 and a war memorial from 1927 for those who fell in 1914–18 (after the war the names of the dead 1939–45 were added). The historic Protestant rectory and a modern fountain round off the ensemble around the Protestant church.
The Catholic Church is a modern, functional building from the 20th century.
- The town hall is a beautiful half-timbered building from 1559, which has existed in its current form since a renovation in 1861. In front of the town hall there is a modern local fountain with a girl. Further historical half-timbered houses and further fountains have been preserved in the entire center of Hüffenhardt .
- In addition to the classical school building of the elementary school from 1895/96 with its brick facade, there is also the Protestant school building built in 1848 .
- A plaque commemorates the local poet on the house where Karl Schramm was born.
- Along the road to Siegelbach are several historical landmarks, including next wayside crosses the extraordinary Ruhbank with hours stone and the Hussars stone called atonement stone for a 1799 French soldiers killed.
