Man (rapper)
Mann (born July 17, 1991 in Los Angeles ; real name: Dijon Thames Shariff ) is an American rapper.
Career
Mann grew up in Los Angeles. In order to keep him off the streets, his single mother tried to get him into film and theater from the age of five. He played minor roles in films and advertising, attended the Amazing Grace Conservatory Drama Institute and appeared in plays. He later studied dance and drama at Hamilton High School. He also founded the hip-hop crew La Boyz with friends . They started producing several mixtapes when they were only 14 . People noticed him and he was allowed to appear in the opening act of rappers such as Glasses Malone , Pharoahe Monch and The Game .
He was discovered by talent scout Jamie Adler during a show. He was signed by JR Rotem and got a contract with the Epic label . He released his first single Ghetto Girl with Sean Kingston as a contributor when he was just 17 years old . However, at the same time he released his own single and so Mann's recording went under.
The contract with Epic was canceled, but only a short time later he came under the renowned label Def Jam in New York . His first single on the new label was Text in 2010 , a collaboration with Jason Derulo that went largely unnoticed. The second release, Buzzin ', was much more successful, reached number 13 in the US rap charts and also made it into the official single charts . The song was even better in the UK, where it made it into the top 10. The song was made with support from 50 Cent and contains a striking sample of I Can't Wait by the Nu Shooz .
The following year Mann released their debut album entitled Mann's World . In addition, the piece The Mack appeared in advance , in which Snoop Dogg and Iyaz participated. However, he could not place himself in his home with it. In the UK, however, both single and album hit the charts.
