Manon Hahn

Manon Hahn (born February 20, 1908 in Breslau ; † July 13, 1993 in Berlin ) was a German costume designer .

Life

At the age of 18 she went to Munich and completed an apprenticeship as a photographer. From 1928 to 1932 she attended the Vienna Women's Academy in the fashion class. She became a costume assistant at the Deutsches Theater in Munich, and until 1934 she worked as a fashion designer in Vienna , Cologne , Bielefeld and Paris .

At the age of 25, she applied to UFA in Berlin and was hired by Reinhold Schünzel as a costume designer for his antique comedy Amphitryon . After the success of this film, Manon Hahn became one of the most important outfitters of the films in the era of National Socialism. She fulfilled her greatest task with the historical film Münchhausen (1943), for which she provided over 500 drafts. In the 1930s she was also regularly responsible for the revues at Scala Berlin .

After the end of the war, she first worked as a fashion journalist and, from 1953, again for German film. In 1962 she finished her work as a costume designer and ran her own guesthouse on Ibiza until 1984 . She then moved to Berlin and lived in the Käthe Dorsch dormitory.
