"The Austrian Manuel Knapp is an extreme border crosser. Regardless of whether as a musician, filmmaker or visual artist, his tendency towards strict, reduced constructions and his fascination for the sublime is expressed in all of his artistic work. Knapp confronts us with crystalline walls of noise. Archaic and elementary As if you were being pushed under the sea by a huge wave at a raging volume, the elegance of his compositions only reveals itself when you get involved in the apocalyptic overstimulation. His live set is an acute sound event that has a direct effect on the body and our sensorium attacked. Immersive, demanding, radical ".

In 2019, At the Horizon by Manuel Knapp and Makino Takashi won the Tíos Award in the category “Best International Film” at the Ann Arbor Film Festival .

Manuel Knapp lives and works in Vienna and Tokyo .
