Manuel Padilla, Jr. (born July 13, 1955 in Los Angeles , California - † January 29, 2008 in Pomona , California) was an American actor and child actor .

Life

Manuel Padilla worked in the film and television business for a period of twenty years from 1963 to 1983 and appeared in more than thirty feature films , television films and television series . Because of the Latin American origins of his ancestors and his correspondingly dark skin color, he played a Mexican or Indian boy in many roles , such as in the western series Smoking Colts and Bonanza . He became known to a wide audience primarily through the role of the orphan boy Jai in the television series Tarzan , which was produced between 1966 and 1968. Padilla also appeared in two other Tarzan feature films: Tarzan and the Golden City (1966) and Tarzan on the Great River (1967).

In January 2008, Padilla passed away unexpectedly after an appearance at the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California at the age of 52. Not only did his four children survive, but so did his parents.
