Manuel Zamora Muñoz (* 1928 in Morón de la Frontera (Seville), † 2006 in Olot ) was a Spanish painter who followed the tradition of the Olot School .

Life

Zamora Muñoz came to Olot as a teenager and studied at the local art college. He had taken over the technology, subject matter and philosophy of the landscape painting school there and developed it personally. He differentiated his painting from his own gray, cloudy tones in dull, sometimes ghostly or self-dissolving landscapes.

As a highly experienced painter, he was able to record exhibition successes in numerous cities with almost absolute professionalism. In 1958 he had his first individual exhibition in the Galería Icaria in Figueres . This was followed by exhibitions in Olot, Sabadell , Sitges , Blandas (Girona) , Girona , Valencia , Barcelona , Madrid and many others. In 1972 he won the bronze medal for his work in Castelló . In 1976 he received the Àncora de Oro ( Golden Anchor ) in Palamós for his work.

Zamora Muñoz consistently followed the path of naturalistic landscape painting and opened it up for impressionism. Above all, he brought Catalan landscapes into the work. Its urban landscapes of Barcelona (especially that of the Rambla ), Ibiza and Cadaqués are also famous . What is to be emphasized in his art is the exceptional mastery of color technology, the handling of light and illumination of a picture and the unbelievably great spontaneity in his pictures.

In 1991 Imprenta Aubert, Olot, published a monograph on the artist and his work.
