Manuel del Campo also Manuel Del Campo (born November 14, 1913 in Mexico City , Mexico ; † February 16, 1969 in England ) was a Mexican film editor who oversaw the editing of over 20 cinema and television productions during his career . Including films like The Black Rose , The Journey into the Unknown , White Ruler of Tonga , The Baby on the Battleship or A Strange Saint .

life and career

Manuel del Campo was born in Mexico City in 1913 as the son of the Mexican diplomat Manuel Martinez del Campo. Del Campo began his career in 1947 as an editor under the British director George King, for whose Oskar Homolka drama The Man Who Became a Murderer he performed the cut. Other important stations as an editor in the 1950s were Henry Hathaway's adventure film The Black Rose with Tyrone Power , Orson Welles and Cécile Aubry in the leading roles, Henry Koster's drama The Journey into the Unknown with James Stewart and Marlene Dietrich , the two pirate films White Ruler Tonga and The Treasure of the Corsairs by director Byron Haskin , the Jay Lewis comedy The Baby on the Battleship or the Jack Lee thriller The Farm of the Cursed . In 1962, he worked for the Italian production Die Included von Altona with the cast of Sophia Loren , Maximilian Schell and Fredric March directed by Vittorio De Sica . In the same year he also provided the editing for the comedy A Strange Saint by Edward Dmytryk .

From 1957 on, Manuel del Campo also worked sporadically for television, as editor in addition to the television series The Adventures of Long John Silver and Playhouse 90 at the end of the 1960s, also some episodes of the popular British agent series Mit Schirm, Charme und Melone .

From 1936 to 1941 he was married to film actress Mary Astor . Manuel del Campo died on February 16, 1969 at the age of 55 in his adopted home England.
