María Edelia Giro (born May 12, 1971 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine biathlete . She participated in several Olympic Games and Biathlon World Championships .

María Giro began her international career in the late 1980s. The first highlight was the participation in the biathlon world championships in 1988 in Feistritz an der Drau . There she was able to reach place 41 in the sprint and thus ranked three places before her sister Ana Veronica Giro , who was 44th. She was two ranks lower when she made her debut in the 1989 Biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding . The next career highlight for the Argentine was the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . Giro competed in both possible individual races and was 63rd over 20 kilometers and 36th in the sprint. Things went a little worse two years later in Lillehammer . Here she reached 66th place in the individual and 54th place in the sprint. Shortly thereafter, the athlete finished 34th in Hinton, Canada, her best World Cup result. After the season she ended her international career.
