The Marburger Kreisbahn V 66 is a four-axle diesel locomotive with rod drive , which was designed for heavy shunting and medium-sized line service. It was built as a single piece of the Henschel DH 650 series in 1957 by Henschel in Kassel .
The locomotive came to Italy in the early 1990s and was available there in Marghera in 2016 .
development
The locomotive is an intermediate piece between the Henschel locomotives of the second and third generation, in which the wheel arrangement was used for the type designation. The external distinguishing feature was the smooth front end of the locomotives of the second generation, while those of the third generation were given sloping front end to improve visibility.
In 1955/1956 the Marburger Kreisbahn obtained offers from Henschel for medium-weight diesel locomotives. She opted for the four-axle 630 hp locomotive with flange lubrication and accepted a delivery time of 15 months. The locomotive was put into service on October 7, 1957. The engine had an output of 650 hp.
technology
The locomotive with a central driver's cab has two front sections of approximately the same size for the machine system and auxiliary operations. It has straight fronts, diagonally opposite driver's desks and driver's cab windows next to the front end.
The diesel engine, a water-cooled twelve-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine from Maybach-Motorenbau , is located in the front of the engine with the exhaust hood in front of the driver's cab and the side grille. The fluid transmission from Voith is below the cab, the auxiliary equipment, such as the battery system is housed in the other stem. The power is transmitted by a rod drive , with the jackshaft directly under the driver's cab. To improve the curve maneuverability, the axles of the locomotive are connected with Beugniot levers , this enables the locomotive to curve maneuverability similar to that of a bogie locomotive .
The locomotive has a multi-release Knorr brake, a pneumatic sanding system and wheel flange lubrication. The stems were blue, the frame was black, the buffer beam was red and the running gear was also painted red. In operational service, the locomotive was therefore referred to as the blue one.
commitment
The locomotive was in use on the Marburger Kreisbahn from 1957 to 1970. Its main area of use was freight traffic over the watershed between Bortshausen and Ebsdorf . From 1968 the line was taken over by the Deutsche Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft , it was given the designation DEG V 66 .
The locomotive was sold to a locomotive dealer in Munich when it ceased operations, after which it came to Italy at an undetectable time. She was traveling in the Rome area until 1992 . Then it was sold in 1992 for further use in Marghera, where the locomotive was still there in 2016. It bears the number 10 there .
