Marc-Antoine Fortuné (born July 2, 1981 in Cayenne , French Guiana ) is a French football player .

Career

Fortuné started his professional career in 1999 at the then amateur club AS Angoulême-Charente 92 . In his first year he was used ten times and scored three goals. Also in the following year he came to regular match practice. For the 2001/02 season Fortuné finally played in the starting lineup and was able to sink the ball into the opposing goal twelve times. This performance did not go unnoticed by other French teams and so in the summer of 2002 the Lille OSC secured the services of the young attacker. Fortuné could not prevail there and the club decided to lend him to the second division for the following season . There he was a top performer.

For the 2004/05 season he did not return to Lille, but stayed in Ligue 2. Within the league, he transferred to Stade Brest. There, too, he was sure to have a regular seat. In the summer of 2005 there was a move to the Eredivisie , to FC Utrecht . He stayed with the Utrecht football club for a year and a half before returning to France for AS Nancy . In the transfer window of the 2008/09 season it happened that Fortuné moved to England in the Premier League . West Bromwich Albion loaned the striker until summer 2009 and also had an option to buy.

He made his debut for the new club in a 3-0 win against Middlesbrough FC . Here he contributed a goal, which was awarded to teammate Robert Koren , to the victory. During the second half Fortuné was exchanged for Craig Beattie . The center-forward scored his first official goal in the 3-2 defeat by Newcastle United . Here Fortuné entered the scorers list with a double pack. With Nancy, the striker still had a contract until 2011.

Fortuné moved to Scottish runners-up Celtic FC in the summer of 2009 ; he signed a three-year contract. In August 2010 Fortuné moved to West Bromwich Albion.

After 3 years Fortuné left West Bromwich , and he was only allowed to play for 1 month on loan for the third division Doncaster Rovers , in the direction of Athletic in Wigan .
