Marc Chouinard (* 6. May 1977 in Charlesbourg , Quebec ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player , who during his playing career, among others, for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League on the position of the center played Has. His uncle Guy and cousin Eric were also professional ice hockey players and active in the NHL.

Career

Chouinard began his career in 1993 in the Canadian Junior League Quebec Major Junior Hockey League . There he played for the Beauport Harfangs and Halifax Mooseheads until 1997 . During this time he was selected in the second round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft in 32nd place by the Winnipeg Jets . Before he could play a game for the Jets, however, he was transferred to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on February 7, 1996 together with Teemu Selänne , which in return gave Chad Kilger and Oleg Twerdowski to Winnipeg.

In the summer of 1997, the Canadian finally switched to the organization of the Ducks, who used him until the 2000/01 season exclusively in the American Hockey League with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks , the then Anaheim farm team . In the course of the season, however, the striker was able to fight for a regular place and belonged to the NHL squad until the end of the 2002/03 season . After his contract expired, he signed a contract as a free agent with league rivals Minnesota Wild . Chouinard stayed two seasons until summer 2006 at the franchise of the game, which he caused by the lockout failed NHL season 2004/05 in the Norwegian GET-ligaen at the Frisk Tigers spent. Since the contract with the Minnesota Wild had not been renewed, Chouinard joined the Vancouver Canucks , but they used him equally in the NHL and AHL.

After only one year, however, he left the team and moved to Europe, as in the 2004/05 game year. There he played since the 2007/08 season for Friborg-Gottéron in the Swiss National League A , but fell from September 2008 to November 2009 due to a serious cervical vertebra injury. After his recovery, he accepted an offer from the Kölner Haie from the German Ice Hockey League and signed a contract until the end of the season.
