Marc Davis (astronomer)
Marc Davis (born September 8, 1947 in Canton , Ohio ) is an American astronomer .
Davis earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1969 , a master's degree in 1971 and a doctorate in 1973 from Princeton University . From 1975 to 1981 he was a professor at Harvard University , since then he has been a professor at the University of California, Berkeley .
Davis' main area of work is cosmology . He investigated the large-scale structure of the universe and the influence of dark matter on it. He is involved in several large redshift surveys of galaxies , most recently in the DEEP and DEEP2 surveys with the Keck telescopes .
