Marc Domingo Gygax

Marc Domingo Gygax (born January 25, 1965 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish ancient historian .

Marc Domingo Gygax studied Prehistory and Protohistory , Ancient History and Classical Archeology at the University of Barcelona from 1983 to 1988 and graduated with a licentiate . This was followed by a master’s degree at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , which Domingo Gygax completed in 1990. The doctorate in ancient history took place in Barcelona in 1993. In 1994/95 he was a Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California at Berkeley . Between 1996 and 2002, Domingo Gygax taught first as a Humboldt Scholar, then since 1997 as a research assistant in Tübingen. In 2002 he moved to the Department of Classics at Princeton University as an assistant professor , where he has been an associate professor since 2008. Domingo Gygax conducts research on the history of classical Athens, Hellenism , Greek epigraphy as well as modern historiography and the theory of history. For 2017 he was awarded the Runciman Award of the Anglo-Hellenic League .
