The Indonesian island of Liran ( Lirang , Indon .: Pulau Liran ) belongs to the Barat Daya Islands ( Southwest Islands ).
geography
Geographically, Liran is part of the Lesser Sunda Islands , but politically it belongs to the Maluku Province . Here Liran is part of the Kecamatan (district) Westwetar (Wetar Barat), administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Southwest Moluccas . Liran is located 2.9 km southwest of the coast of Wetar , separated from it by the Lirang Strait ( Selat Lirang ). 13 km to the south-west is the East Timorese island of Atauro , to the west the island of Alor . Liran has an area of 23.91 km².
Residents
The Malayo-Polynesian language Wetar and the Papuan language Fataluku are spoken on Liran .
