Marc L. Marks

Marc Lincoln Marks (born February 12, 1927 in Farrell , Mercer County , Pennsylvania , † February 28, 2018 in Chevy Chase , Maryland ) was an American politician . Between 1977 and 1983 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Marc Marks attended public schools in his home country and then Sharon High School until 1945 . Between 1945 and 1946 he served in the US Army squadron , from which the Air Force emerged a little later . He then studied until 1951 at the University of Alabama . After studying law at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville and being admitted to the bar in 1955, he began working in this profession in Farrell. From 1960 to 1966 he was a district attorney in Mercer County. Politically, he joined the Republican Party .

In the 1976 congressional election , Marks was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 24th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Democrat Joseph P. Vigorito on January 3, 1977 , whom he defeated in the election. After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1983 . In 1982 he renounced another candidacy in another constituency because of a back problem. His previous district was dissolved at this time.

In 1994, Marc Marks was appointed to the Mining Safety and Health Commission by President Bill Clinton . He spent his old age in Sharon .
