In 1987 he moved to the United States, where he graduated from the School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) in Cincinnati, Ohio . In the early 1990s, he went to Japan where he learned Sumi-E painting and Japanese color woodblock prints while studying Japanese at the Sendagaya Japanese Institute. After his stay, he moved back to the USA and studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. There he made his art degree in 1996 (Bachelor in Illustration).

Artistic career

Catrinas - skeleton ladies from the day of the dead

In 1996 Remus moved to Honduras for a year , where he spent his time writing and illustrating children's books. When he came back to Germany in 1998, he began to illustrate freelance for European and American companies. He drew various covers of children's magazines. In 2002 Remus began creating his first series of City Views , which he titled City Impressions . In 2006 Remus changed his painting style from a more traditional, realistic painting style to a colorful neo-pop art style and focused on metropolises around the world. He painted German, American, European and Japanese cities and called the collection Fun Cities . In 2009 he expanded both the paintings in the series and the title, which was now called Fun Cities & Countries . Today Remus is still working in the neo-pop art style. In 2014, Remus processed the experience he had gained in Honduras. He started a new series called La Catrina , Skeleton Ladies, which comes from the Latin American holiday, Day of the Dead . He associated this idea with German personalities.
