Marcel was the German contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 1963 , which was sung by Heidi Brühl in German. The original version was sung by Margot Eskens in 1963 ; she was accompanied by the Kurt Edelhagen Orchestra .

history

The preliminary decision took place on February 28, 1963 in Frankfurt am Main . It was produced by the Hessischer Rundfunk . The person responsible for the Eurovision Song Contest, Hans-Otto Grünefeldt, nominated the young Heidi Brühl. The television viewers could choose from five songs by postcard, 66% of the viewers opted for the title Marcel , composed and written by Charly Niessen , which is about a “much too hasty lover”. At the 8th Eurovision Song Contest on March 23, 1963 in London, Heidi Brühl performed Marcel as the third song after Een speeldoos by Dutch artist Annie Palmen and Perhaps a miracle will happen to Austrian Carmela Corren . Marcel achieved 9th place out of 13 songs with 5 points.

Versions

The German version by Margot Eskens was published by Polydor in 1963 , and that by Heidi Brühl by Philips . A cover version, interpreted by the Finnish singer Kai Lind , was pressed as a single by Scandia Records in 1963 . The Finnish text was by Niilo Sauvo Pellervo Puhtila (Saukki), the accompanying orchestra was Jaakko Salon Orkesteri .
