Marcel Herzog (born June 28, 1980 in Winterthur ) is a former Swiss football goalkeeper .
Career
Herzog began in 1990 when FC Bubendorf with football matches . In July 1997 he moved to Concordia Basel , where he stayed until 2001. The goalkeeper then signed with FC Basel . At the beginning of the 2003/04 season, Herzog went to FC Schaffhausen , where he played his 100th game in the Axpo Super League on May 20, 2007 .
For the 2007/08 season moved Duke abroad and signed for before in the in Germany Bundesliga ascended MSV Duisburg , with whom he in summer 2008 in the 2. Bundesliga relegation. After four years, Herzog returned home in June 2011 and signed a one-year contract with FC Basel , which had previously won the Swiss championship. He played a competitive game, the contract was not extended afterwards. He then moved to the newly promoted FC St. Gallen .
At the FCSG, Herzog was mostly used in the Cup, in the championship he made his debut at the last game of the season in Basel. In December 2013, Herzog also played his first UEFA Europa League game when Welsh Premier League club Swansea City were defeated 1-0 in the final game of the group stage. Herzog was the goalkeeper for the last five games of the 2013/14 season.
On January 6, 2017, Herzog announced his retirement from professional football after struggling with an aductor injury.
