Marcel Knapp (* 1995 ) is a German grass skier . He has been competing in the World Cup since 2010 and is currently one of the strongest German junior runners.

Career

After several successes in the youth field, including winning the student rankings in the German Cup several times , Marcel Knapp has also competed in FIS and World Cup races since 2010 . In the FIS races he was placed in the top 20 from the start, which he also achieved at his first World Cup starts in July 2010 in Goldingen . Overall, the German took part in six of the eleven World Cup races in the 2010 season, with his best result to date with 15th place in the Faistenau slalom . In the overall World Cup he achieved the 38th final place with four top 20 results, making him the third-best German after Florian Sauer and Benjamin Bennett . This ranking was also the result of the 2010 German Cup, in which Marcel Knapp finished third overall behind the same-point winners Sauer and Bennett. At the 2010 Junior World Championship in Dizin , Iran , he reached eighth place in the slalom and was among the top 20 in the other competitions. A year later, at the 2011 Junior World Championship in Goldingen, he was sixth in the slalom and seventh in the combination twice in the top 10. He finished the Super-G in 17th position. At the World Championship in the general class, which was taking place at the same time , Knapp also achieved a top 10 result in tenth place in the slalom. In the other disciplines he was placed between 22nd and 26th. In the World Cup, Knapp was among the fastest 20 in two races in the 2011 season . In the overall World Cup, he improved to 30th. In the German Cup he won the youth class in 2011 and was in the Second place overall behind Benjamin Bennett.

Also in 2012 Knapp reached second place overall behind Benjamin Bennett and first place in the youth class in the German Cup. In World Cup races, his best results of the 2012 season were two 16th places in the slalom from Předklášteří and in the super combined from Rettenbach . He also achieved top 10 placements in FIS races for the first time, making him 27th in the overall World Cup. At the Junior World Championships 2012 in Burbach , Knapp achieved similar results as in the previous year. The best result was fifth place in the slalom.
