Marcel Ziemer (born August 3, 1985 in Worms ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Ziemer moved in 2004 from TuS Neuhausen to the amateurs of 1. FC Kaiserslautern , for which he played 31 games and scored six goals. In 2006 he received a professional contract after he had already completed two appearances (two goals) in the Bundesliga in the 2005/06 season . On the 23rd matchday he scored his first goal in the 2006/07 season in the 4-0 home win for FCK against SpVgg Unterhaching .

On the 34th and last matchday of the 2007/08 season he scored the two decisive goals in the second half of the "final" against Cologne to make it 2-0 and 3-0 and thus sealed the league of the Palatinate in the 2nd Bundesliga .

In the summer break of 2008, he extended his professional contract until 2010. During the winter break, Ziemer was loaned to the league competitor SV Wehen Wiesbaden until the end of the season, who signed him up in the summer of 2009, after having briefly trained again at FCK, and with a contract until 2011 equipped. For the 2011/12 season he moved to 1. FC Saarbrücken .

After the relegation of 1. FC Saarbrücken in the 2013/14 season , Ziemer moved to FC Hansa Rostock . He signed a two-year contract there. On the 5th matchday of the 2014/15 season , Ziemer was in the starting line-up for the first time and scored all four goals for Hansa Rostock in the game against Jahn Regensburg (4: 4). With his 15 goals scored in his first season on board the Kogge, Ziemer played a key role in preventing Hansa from falling into the fourth division. In January 2016, Ziemer and FC Hansa extended the contract for a further two years until 2018 plus an option. With the "Kogge", Ziemer became the state cup winner in 2015, 2016 and 2017 - each of which led to participation in the first main round of the next season's DFB Cup.

With his 1-0 goal win at MSV Duisburg with an overhead kick in the last minute, he was eligible for goal of the month October 2016. Ziemer made his 100th competitive appearance for the Ostseestädter from Rostock on August 14, 2017 at the home game against Bundesliga club Hertha BSC in the 1st main round of the DFB Cup , which he lost 0-2 with the cog. The veteran tore the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee in the 89th minute in the home game against Preußen Münster after a duel. He also suffered cartilage damage. This injury forced Ziemer to take a break for months. In the current third division season 2017/18 he no longer ran for the cog. In April 2018, his employer, Hansa Rostock, announced Ziemer's departure at the end of the season after four years of cooperation. "Cello", as the fans in Rostock affectionately called him, played 90 league games for the Mecklenburg team in which he scored 26 goals.
