Marcelo Cirino da Silva (born January 22, 1992 in Maringá ), called Marcelo , is a Brazilian football player.
Career
Marcelo's professional career began in 2009 when he gained his first experience in the Brazilian Série A at his club Athletico Paranaense . In a 2-1 defeat at Fluminense FC in autumn 2009, he scored his first league goal at the age of 17. A few months earlier he had already made his professional debut. In the 2010 season he came to a total of ten missions. In early 2011 he was loaned for the entire season to the second division club EC Vitória to get match practice there. For Vitória he played a total of 15 games and scored one goal.
For the 2012 season he returned to his home club, but continued to play in the Série B after Paranaense had been relegated the year before. The team managed to climb back up straight away and Marcelo, who played his best season to date with 16 goals in 29 games, had the opportunity to prove himself in Brazil's top division again after a two-year absence.
In 2013 he managed to play his way into focus with a series of convincing performances. Paranaense finished third behind Cruzeiro and Grêmio Porto Alegre and Marcelo, who scored seven goals, was elected New Discovery of the Year at the Prêmio Craque do Brasileirão towards the end of the season, following players like Bruno César and Bernard . After the season he came more and more into the focus of clubs from Europe and competitors from Brazil.
For the 2015 season he moved to league rivals Flamengo Rio de Janeiro . He made his competitive debut for his new club at the Taça Guanabara on January 31, 2015.
In addition to his club career, he is a U-20 national player in his country .
Style of play
Marcelo can be used in various positions on the offensive. The right flank is particularly important to him, but he also often plays as a center forward. One of his greatest strengths is his high basic speed.
