Marco Colonna

Marco Colonna (born December 21, 1978 ) is an Italian jazz and improvisation musician ( woodwind instruments , composition ).

Live and act

Colonna, who comes from Rome, had lessons in classical clarinet from the age of eight , from 1995 also jazz tenor saxophone with Piero Quarta and from 1996 baritone saxophone and orchestral playing with Gaetano Zocconali. He also attended workshops and seminars organized by Claudio Fasoli , Stefano Zenni and Mario Raja as part of the Siena Jazz Festival . In 1997 he performed at the Rumori Mediterranei Festival in Roccella Ionica with the orchestra Progetti di improvvisazione collettiva, dall'informale alla forma under the direction of Cvon io Lugo and with Orche Strana under the direction of Nicola Pisani. This was followed by collaboration with the Orchestra Laboratorio di Siena Jazz, the percussionist Massimo Carrano and the guitarist Lutte Berg , the Ensemble OSM by Gaetano Zoccolani and the Pachamama Ensemble . In 2001 he performed at the Rumori Mediterranei Festival with the formation Fucina Fusion and worked in workshops with Egberto Gismonti and Louis Sclavis . In 2003 he was a member of the Butch Morris Orchestra ; In 2004 he composed for the dance ensemble Tetrays. During this time he was a co-founder of the improvisation ensemble IEM (Improvising Experimental Machine) and organized events of improvised music in the Rialto Sant'Ambrogio cultural center in Rome; He also worked with Enzo Rocco and Antonello Salis , as well as a theater musician and composer and as a soloist. During his career he worked a. a. with the oud player Evaggelos Merkouris , Stefano Tesei ( La Gatta Nel Sacco 2007), Giovanni Maier , Zlatko Kaucic , Fabio Sartori, Cristiano Calcagnile and Agustí Fernández . In 2010 he recorded the album Domino's Tales (Slam), which was created in a trio with Francesco Lo Cascio (vibraphone / percussion) and Lillo Quaratino (bass).
