Roccella Ionica is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 6386 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria in Calabria . The municipality is located about 70 kilometers east-northeast of Reggio Calabria on the Ionian Sea . Roccella Ionica belongs to the Comunità montana Stilaro-Allaro-Limina and borders the province of Vibo Valentia .
