Pazzano is a town with 520 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria and is therefore in the Calabria region in southern Italy . It is part of the Vallata dello Stilaro .

The neighboring municipalities are Bivongi , Caulonia , Nardodipace , Placanica , Stignano and Stilo .

history

The origin of the village is linked to the extraction of iron-containing minerals ( limonite and pyrite ). A miners' settlement already existed here in Norman times, as evidenced by a document from 1094. Finally, at the time of the Bourbon Kingdom, Pazzano is one of the most important mining areas and supplies the entire south of Italy.
