Ciminà (in the Greek-Calabrian dialect : Kymina ) is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) in the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria in Calabria and has 551 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). The municipality is located about 45.5 kilometers east-northeast of Reggio Calabria in the Aspromonte National Park . The coast to the Ionian Sea runs nine kilometers southeast of Ciminà .
history
The foundation of the community goes back to the conquest of Constantinople by the Ottomans in 1453, which triggered a large emigration movement from Greece and Albania to southern Italy and led to new foundations.
