Melicucco (in the local dialect: Melikùko or Melikoukos ) is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4982 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria in Calabria . The municipality is located about 70 kilometers northeast of Reggio Calabria .

The community was created in 1936. Melicucco was previously part of what is now the neighboring municipality of Polistena .
