Montebello Ionico is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5970 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria in Calabria . The municipality is located about 17 kilometers southeast of Reggio Calabria and with its district Masella e Saline Joniche directly on the Mediterranean . Montebello Ionico is part of the Comunità Montana Versante dello Stretto .
