Bivongi is an Italian city in the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria in Calabria with 1257 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Bivongi is located 149 km northeast of Reggio Calabria on the southern side of the Serre on the Stilaro River . The neighboring municipalities are Guardavalle ( CZ ), Pazzano and Stilo .

Viticulture

Called Bivongi DOC are white , rosé and red wines (also with the predicates "Riserva" and Novello ) produced. The wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " (Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC ) since 1996 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

The red and rosé wines are made from 30–50% Gaglioppo and / or Greco nero (individually or together), 30–50% Nocera , Calabrese and / or Castiglione (individually or together) and a maximum of 15% white grape varieties that are suitable for the Cultivation in the Calabria region are permitted.
