Marco Schürch (born November 18, 1994 in Aarberg ) is a Swiss grass skier . He is a member of the Swiss Grasski junior national team and has competed in the World Cup since 2009 .

Career

In June 2009 Marco Schürch took part in his first FIS races and two months later in the first World Cup races. At the FIS races in Urnäsch , a 25th place in the giant slalom was his only result, while at the World Cup races in Marbachegg he achieved 22nd place in the Super-G, but was eliminated in the giant slalom. He did not take part in other races in the 2009 season; In the overall World Cup, he was only 64th.

In the 2010 season , Schürch started at all eleven World Cup races. His best result was 17th place in the Čenkovice slalom . In another three World Cup races he was among the fastest 20 and also in three FIS races he was in the top 20. In the overall World Cup he achieved 31st place. At the 2010 Junior World Championships in Dizin , Iran , he finished 17th in the Super-G and 21st in the Super Combined; He could not finish slalom and giant slalom. At the Swiss championships in 2010 he was third in the slalom.

In the 2011 season , Schürch's best World Cup result was 16th in the giant slalom in Forni di Sopra , while his best result in the FIS races was 14th in the giant slalom on Marbachegg. In the overall World Cup he improved by two places to 29th place. At the Junior World Championships 2011 in Goldingen , he achieved two top 10 results as ninth in the Super-G and tenth in the giant slalom, while he failed in the slalom and thus also in the combination. He also took part in the general class of the World Championships , which was held at the same time , and achieved 26th place in the giant slalom as the only result. He dropped out in the Super-G and the Super Combined, but did not start in the slalom.

In the 2012 season , Schürch achieved his first top 15 results in World Cup races with 12th place in the giant slalom on Marbachegg and 14th place in the Super-G in San Sicario . He also achieved several top 15 placements in FIS races. He decided not to start at the three World Cup races in Iran, which meant he finished 26th in the overall World Cup and fourth in the Junior Cup. At the Junior World Championships 2012 in Burbach , he just missed the medal ranks as fourth in the slalom. He finished seventh in the super-G and twelfth in the super-combined.
