Marcus Lüschow

Marcus Lüschow , also Marcus Luschow and (Latinized) Marcus Luscovius (* 1541 in Rostock ; † April 26, 1601 there ) was a German legal scholar , university professor and rector .

Life

Marcus Lüschow was born as the son of the Rostock councilor of the same name Marcus Luschow and his wife Margaretha, geb. Kron. From 1557 he studied law at the University of Rostock and at "foreign universities" with a doctorate in both rights . On February 3, 1571 he was appointed full professor of rights / institutions at the law faculty . Heinrich Camerarius succeeded him in this office when he took over the council professorship of rights / Codex in 1578 as the successor to Johannes Borcholten, who had moved to Helmstedt in 1577 . Lüschow also held the office of rector of the university several times between 1571 and 1598.

Marcus Lüschow was married to Elisabeth Kerkhof, the daughter of the Rostock councilor and mayor Bertold Kerkhof III († 1555) and his wife Margaretha Kellermann. His son of the same name, Marcus Lüschow (1579–1656), Rostock councilor and treasurer, was married from 1602 to Anna Hein († 1607), the daughter of Rostock mayor Friedrich Hein .
