Marcy Playground is an American indie rock band .

Band name

The group has been trading under this name since 1997, although founder John Wozniak started writing and composing songs in his early youth. Many of these songs, written before 1997, were summarized on the unofficial album Zog BogBean , which John Wozniak recorded all by himself, and thus made known to a relatively small community. In the course of these recordings, the current lead singer and songwriter of Marcy Playground also wrote the song From the Marcy Playground , a treatise, so to speak, of his life and memories of the same in a primary school called the Marcy Open in Minneapolis , USA , after whose playground the band was finally named . Even today, John Wozniak almost single-handedly writes the band's songs.

Band history

With the bassist Dylan Keefe and the former drummer Dan Rieser, the first official album of Marcy Playground was released in 1997, which bore the name of the band as the title. The single Sex and Candy taken from it gave the band a not inconsiderable degree of success and popularity internationally, but it quickly vanished outside the USA after a very short European tour .

In 1999 the album Shapeshifter was released , which was no longer a resounding success internationally.

After Marcy Playground separated from her drummer Dan Rieser, a lengthy search for a replacement began, which meant that the release of the third album was a long time coming. In 2004 the work entitled MP3 was finally released.

In 2009, Leaving Wonderland ... in a fit of rage, the fourth album was released.
