Mareike Morr (* 1977 in Rotenburg an der Fulda ) is a German mezzo-soprano .

Life

As a student, Mareike Morr regularly took part in the " Jugend musiziert " competitions and has won several federal prizes in the subjects of piano solo and chamber music . After graduating from high school, she began studying piano in 1996 with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling at the Hanover Music Academy . In 2000 she completed her diploma and in 2001 passed her chamber music exam in the field of song accompaniment as part of the training class.

In 2000 she began her vocal studies with Carol Richardson-Smith, also in Hanover. From 2003 to 2006 she studied in Christiane Iven's class and then worked with Sylvia Bleimund. During her studies she attended the song classes of Jan Philip Schulze , Graìnne Dunne and Justus Zeyen . In 2007 she completed her studies with two degrees in opera singing and as a singing teacher. Since then she has been working with Charlotte Lehmann . Numerous master classes, among others with Judith and Irving Beckmann, Ingeborg Danz, Rudolf Piernay, Eugen Rabine, Aribert Reimann , Jacques Schwarz, Norman Shetler , Kurt Widmer and at the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart round off her education.

As a soloist in the field of song and oratorio, she has appeared at various festivals, including "Movimentos", "schubertiade.de", "AlpenKlassik" and "Semanas musicales" in Chile. In 2006/07 and 2009 she made radio recordings with songs by György Ligeti , Aribert Reimann and Wolfgang Rihm . She works regularly with the pianists Thomas Seyboldt and Volker Link. In 2002 she sang the alto part in JS Bach's "Johannes Passion" at the Philharmonie in Cologne and at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. In 2005 she sang Gustav Mahler's songs from "Des Knaben Wunderhorn" with the orchestra of the Hannover Medical School and took over the alto part in Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's "Elias" at the 31st Evangelical Church Congress . Further concert tours have taken her to Belarus, Spain and the USA.

At the Music Academy for Seniors (MAS) in Hamburg, she gave courses in song design from 2002 to 2006. Mareike Morr was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation, the Richard Wagner Association and the Yehudi Menuhin "LiveMusicNow eV" organization. Since 2006 she has been a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation "Live Music Now". In 2007 she received the SOPHIA Prize for her outstanding opera singing diploma. She was a guest at the Hanover State Opera in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons and has been a permanent member of the ensemble since the 2008/09 season.
