Marek Čech (born January 26, 1983 in Trebišov ) is a Slovak football player .

Career

society

2001 came Čech to the professional squad of the Slovak top club Inter Bratislava . At the age of 18 he worked his way into the regular team and played 71 games until 2004 and won the national championship in 2001 and the cup. In 2004 he moved to Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic . There he played for one season in the UEFA Champions League and won the championship in the Gambrinus League in 2004/05. In August 2005, shortly before the end of the transfer window, he moved to FC Porto in Portugal .

For the 2008/09 season Čech moved to the Premier League at West Bromwich Albion for 1.8 million euros . There he made his league debut on the first day of the match. In the 1-0 defeat against Arsenal , he played until the 68th minute, until Sherjill MacDonald was substituted on for him. In August 2011 Čech got a three-year contract with Trabzonspor .

His contract with Trabzonspor was terminated on July 26, 2013.

National team

In 2004 Čech was appointed to the national team for the first time . Since then he has been part of the team's regular squad and qualified for the 2006 World Cup and the 2008 European Championship .
