Marek Hilšer (born March 23, 1976 in Chomutov ) is a Czech doctor, university professor and politician. He works at the 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University .

Life

Marek Hilšer emigrated with his parents in June 1989 from Czechoslovakia to Spain. They returned the following year, after the Velvet Revolution . He studied international relations and medicine . Since 2007 he has been working as a researcher and university professor at the 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University. In 2011 and 2012 he provided humanitarian aid in Kenya .

Political commitment

In July 2016, he announced that he would run in the 2018 Czech presidential elections. His candidacy was supported by 11 members of the Senate . Hilšer was the youngest candidate in the elections, he received 8.8% of the vote. In the second ballot he supported the candidate Jiří Drahoš .

In the 2018 Senate elections , Hilšer won a seat in the Prague 2 constituency .
