Batowo

Batowo (German Batow) is a village in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . The village existed before the Thirty Years War , but was one kilometer further south than it is today.

Geographical location

The village is located in the Neumark , about 57 kilometers southeast of Stettin and about 13 kilometers southeast of Pyrzyce (Pyritz)

The exact origin of the name Batow is unknown, except that it is of Slavic origin.

Batow formed with the manors Batow, Kinderfreude and Gut Ohnewitz the former community Batow, which was part of the parish of Pitzerwitz. Since the Prussian provincial formation in 1815, the village was part of the Soldin district in the province of Brandenburg . With the introduction of the registry offices in Prussia on October 1, 1874, Batow belonged to the registry office in Pitzerwitz.

The landmark of the village was the red brick chimney of a distillery, visible for miles .

80% of the Batower soil was intensively farmed and mainly served the cultivation of wheat and sugar beet as well as some barley and potatoes . The population consisted largely of farm workers. The agricultural cultivation was large, but the livestock farming was very low.

Administrative division

Batowo forms a Schulzenamt in the Gmina Lipiany (municipality of Lippehne) and belongs with this to the Powiat Pyrzycki .
