Life

Margarete Lucia von der Osten came from the rear Pomeranian aristocratic family Manteuffel and was the daughter of Christian (Krystjana) Anton von Manteuffel-Kiełpiński (* 1595 - † 1660) from the house of Kerstin , Herr auf Kruckenbeck ( Krukowo ) and Gandelin , and Lucia Elisabeth von the Goltz ad H. Reppow. Her uncle was the Brandenburg Colonel Jakob von Manteuffel .

As a widowed district administrator, she founded the Osten-Manteuffel scholarship in Greifenberg. The scholarship consisted of their pro-rata income from the Wisbu estate (Wisbow, formerly the Regenwalde district in Pomerania ) and included the total annual sum of 100 Reichstalers . According to Margarete Lucia, the middle-class children of Greifenberg should receive money from it. At the instigation of the founder, the mayor Möller and Senator Bontin or two of their heirs took over the administration of the scholarship as long as these were members of the council .

Wisbu was initially administered, later sold and the purchase price applied. The scholarship was further financed from the interest income. Your scholarship was awarded in accordance with Posthumously changed will from November 23, 1725 continued after her death. Around 1784 two students from this scholarship - each over three years (standard period of study) - received 50 Reichstaler annually.

An epitaph made of fine sandstone is dedicated to Margaret in the Marienkirche in Greifenberg. Two angels hold the coat of arms of the East and Manteuffel in the richly decorated frame ; below the coats of arms of Manteuffel and Goltz. The epitaph was donated by the municipality of Greifenberg in memory of a generous foundation for the city school.
