Margret Kratz

Margret Kratz (born January 11, 1962 ) is a former German soccer player, national player and current association trainer for the Saarland soccer association .

Career as a footballer

She played for SV Weiskirchen , 1. FC Kaiserslautern , VfR Saarbrücken and, since the introduction of the double-track Bundesliga, with 1. FC Saarbrücken . With 1. FC Kaiserslautern she reached the semi-finals of the DFB Cup for the first time and played two international matches in the senior national team during this time. During the time in Saarbrücken, she reached the semi-finals in the German championship and the DFB Cup several times, as well as in the national cup. Although she was still active, her club at the time entrusted her with the role of assistant coach in the two-pronged Saarbrücken Bundesliga from 1990 to 1995.

Career as a trainer

After studying sports, she became the second woman in Germany to acquire a football instructor license in 1992 after Tina Theune . After her active career, she took on the role of coach from 1995 to 2000 in Saarbrücken. In 1997 she led her team out of the double-track Bundesliga through direct promotion to the 1st Bundesliga. At the same time, in 1997 she became the head association trainer (since 1989 at the SFV) in the Saarland Football Association and is responsible for the following areas:

  • Trainer education and training for C and B trainers. She was the first woman in Germany to train men up to the B license.
  • Talent promotion for girls (U-12 / U-13 / U-14 / U-16 / U-18)
  • Sports director of the elite school for girls' and women’s football
  • Honorary Prize Winner 2015. Ms. Kratz was honored for her life's work at the sports gala in Saarbrücken "Election of Saarsportler 2015". She received the award through the choice of the Saarland Sports Journalists' Association (VSS), and it was presented by former national coach Tina Theune .
