Publications and reception

In addition to other writings, in 1958 she and René König edited the special issue Problems of Medicine-Sociology of the Cologne Journal for Sociology and Social Psychology . Her extensive compilation of some aspects of the development of a medical sociology and social psychology in Germany appeared in it . From a scientific point of view , the volume is regarded as the beginning of medical sociology in Germany “as an organized and partially institutionalized encounter between sociology and medicine ”.

"This volume is still worth reading today because it reflects the breadth of possible sociological problems - from epidemiology to health system research, from theoretical questions to methodological problems."

- Handbook of Health Sciences, 2012

Her 1980 article Adolescent re-enacting, trauma and reconstruction is one of the key publications in the International Journal of Child Psychotherapy , the official, scientific journal of the Association of Child Psychotherapists .

In 1989, under the title About children and children-no-longer , she published the collected writings of the psychoanalyst Paula Heimann from 1942 to 1980, some of which were previously unpublished. In his review of the volume in the International Journal of Psycho-Analysis , Robert L. Tyson congratulated Tönnesmann for her skillful merging of person and work, which at the same time underscored Heiman's personal and professional development process. Sharon Stekelman, in her review in The Psychoanalytic Quarterly, praised Tönnesmann's enlightening comments and introductory remarks. Margret Tönnesman is also the author of the article on Heiman in the International Dictionary of Psychoanalysis .
