Maria Clara von Berg-s'Heerenberg (born April 27, 1635 in Boxmeer , † July 15, 1715 in Sigmaringen ) was a Dutch heiress and princess and regent of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen .

Life

Maria Clara was a member of the family of Counts von dem Berg , more precisely a daughter of Count Albert von Berg's-Heerenberg (1607-1656) from his second marriage to Madeleine (1616-1689), daughter of Claude François de Cusance .

She married the future Prince Maximilian von Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (1636–1689) in Boxmeer Castle on January 12, 1666 . After his death, she and her brother-in-law Count Franz Anton von Hohenzollern-Haigerloch were regent for their underage son. During this time she closed in Nuremberg in 1695 as guardian together with Elector Friedrich III. of Brandenburg the union of heirs through the succession of the Kurhaus in the Principality of Hohenzollern.

Maria Clara's older brother Count Oswald III died on June 20, 1712. von Berg-s'Heerenberg, with whom the house de Leck died out. In addition to the county of Berg-s'Heerenberg, Maria Clara also inherited the Lords of Boxmeer , Bergh , Diksmuide , Gendringen , Etten , Wisch , Pannerden and Millingen from her brother on the condition that the ownership and name of the house should pass to her grandson Franz Wilhelm who ruled as Count von Berg from 1712.
