Maria Herr-Beck

Maria Herr-Beck (born June 8, 1928 in Alzey ; † October 7, 2015 in Mainz ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1947, Herr-Beck studied law in Mainz . In 1957 she was admitted to the bar and received her doctorate a year later.

politics

Herr-Beck joined the CDU in 1962. In the local elections in Rhineland-Palatinate in 1964, she was number 2 on the CDU list. She also took this safe list position in the following local elections and was therefore a member of the Mainz city council from 1964 to 1981. In 1966 she was the only woman to join the Supervisory Board of Wohnbau Mainz during the electoral period . From 1964 to 1984 she held the office of deputy district chairman. Mr. Beck was 1970-1991 chairman of the Women's Association of the CDU in Rheinhessen-Pfalz . From 1971 to 1981 she was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . There she was from 1975 to 1979 deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group and then until her departure from parliament in 1981 she was vice-president of the parliament. Thereafter, until 1990, Herr-Beck was State Secretary in the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry for Social Affairs, Health and the Environment in the Vogel II , III and IV cabinets and in the Wagner cabinet .
