Margravine Maria Jakobäa von Baden (born June 25, 1507 , † November 16, 1580 in Munich ) was Duchess of Bavaria by marriage.

Life

Maria Jakobäa was the daughter of Margrave Philip I of Baden (1479–1533) and Countess Palatine Elisabeth (1483–1522), daughter of Elector Philip of the Palatinate and Princess Margarete of Bavaria-Landshut. Her paternal grandparents were Margrave Christoph I of Baden and Countess Ottilie von Katzenelnbogen .

On October 5, 1522, Margravine Maria Jakobäa married Duke Wilhelm IV of Bavaria (1493–1550), eldest son of Duke Albrecht IV and Archduchess Kunigunde of Austria . The Schwibbogen in the first courtyard of Burghausen Castle , which is painted with the Bavarian and Baden coats of arms and the year 1523, is said to bear witness to this wedding .
